Environmental Science Club

Environmental Science Club Mission: The purpose of this organization shall be to;

To support the CMU sustainability committee by carrying out sustainability driven initiatives on campus,
Promote effective and diligent stewardship of the Besgrove-Hodge Wildlife Sanctuary, and
Promote and provide opportunities to learn about and interactively experience the outdoor environment.

This is an interdisciplinary club open to students of all majors. The club is active in promoting events on campus such as:

Participation in SGA and the CMU Sustainability Committee
Participate in activities at CMU’s Besgrove-Hodge Wildlife Sanctuary such as Monarch Butterfly tagging, prescribed burning, other habitat management or just enjoying CMU’s natural area.
Canoe trips to Reis Biological Station
Community members submitted observations of Biodiversity in the area that they identified through the iNaturalist app. ( http://www.inaturalist.org/projects/central-methodist-university-bioblitz-2018)
Earth week events and guest speakers
Promoting initiatives such as providing re-usable water bottles for all freshman
Scavenger hunt at Besgrove-Hodge Wildlife Sanctuary to promote use by the community, including a “junior ranger program”
Coordinating Missouri river cleanups with Missouri River Relief.
